I have provided numerous links to this website to help you and your student stay informed. You can click on any text that is light blue on the "Homework" and "Third Grade Websites" pages and it will take you directly to that website. The tab "Third Grade Websites" contains all of the websites that we use in the classroom. These sites are intended to give your student opportunities to practice newly acquired skills and to build to a level of mastery.

What to Expect in Third Grade
Reading: Every week your student will have a reading selection in their Journey’s reading book. A comprehension test will be given on Friday. During shortened weeks, we will work on isolated reading strategies using their individual reading selections or AR books.
Your student is expected to read for 20 minutes every night and then write 3 sentences in their reading record. The reading record is stapled in their assignment planner, and it will be collected every Monday.
Your student is expected to read AR books and take tests when they have completed those stories.
English/ Writing: Rarely will your student have homework in these subjects. If homework is given, it most often will be to complete a draft response to a writing prompt.
Math: Your student participates in a 30 minute math lesson. They will then be responsible for completing a "problem set" page or a "homework page". Answer keys for the "problem set" pages can be found online. Homework will rarely if ever be sent home in this subject.
